Curation

Curation, or organizing, I believe is a very important part of someone's online life and something that I need to work on!

That's about as far as I am in organizing my online life! Once I begin to teach I hope to have my own website where I can keep students and parents up to date and in the know with what is going on and coming up. If I do decide to use a form of social media or multiple platforms, I may take up Hootsuite or If This Then That, which Kirsten Thompson touched on during her talk to our class the other day. These are organizers that keep social media posts all in one place and help keep some pressure off of the user.

I, myself need to work on organizing my online life and ideas, but I also think that it is important to teach these different websites to students to help them organize their things online.
By teaching them something as simple as using Google Docs and setting up different folders within their Google Drive, the students would be learning a simple but useful organizing tool. I am sure most students would be familiar with Pinterest and how it works, so teaching them that they can find different ideas for school projects on that website would be helping them with their school assignments, as well as their curation, or organization online.

In conclusion, I do believe that curation, the forgotten C, is an important aspect of being online. Organizing thoughts and ideas is difficult for some, and hopefully by utilizing some tools that are online students as well as teachers will make their lives a lot easier!
